Featuring
seasoned musicians with roots going back to the late 70s, Salty
Snack is made up a unique mix that have come together to provide
great entertainment. Salty Snack includes past members from
such local 70s/80s/90s acts as White Lies, Ice Cold Katy, Soundtools and
Get Romance. Best known for their song medleys, Salty Snack covers
the best of the 80s, 90s and more, with their own unique twist.

Snack Is:
Jim: Vocals, Bass and
Keyboards
Jim
has been banging around the music scene since the late 70s.
His first gig, at age 15, was drumming for a band called “Overtoke”. Jim
played in many unknown basement projects before landing in
“Vanishing Point” where he first hooked up with guitarist
Don. Jim and Don continued working and writing together
through the 80s (with Jim on Keys) and into the 90s (back on drums)
eventually releasing a CD in '95 (Soundtools, "Drilled").
After “Soundtools”, Jim began honing his bass playing skills in
a local church and later hooked up with Kurt for an
acoustic project in '02, which evolved into “Salty Snack”. Jim's
musical influences include: Alice Cooper, The Who, Led
Zeppelin, Kiss, Aerosmith, Judas Priest, The Ramones, J. Geils, Ted
Nugent, Bob Seger, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Rush and others.
Kurt: Vocals and
Guitar
Kurt
Taber began playing guitar in 1982. His background includes a
five-year stint as a member of the band "White Lies". As
one the founding members of "Salty Snack", Kurt helped
create what the band is now known for, cool song medleys. His other
interests include recording sessions, running live sound and other
music projects. Kurt's musical influences are: E.L.O., the
Beatles, Tom Petty and Fountains of Wayne.
Don: Vocals and Guitar
Don
has been playing guitar since the age of 12. His first band was
“Vanishing Point” with Jim in the early 80s and then multiple
bands with Jim through the 1990s playing mostly originals.
In the mid 90s Don and Jim worked on a studio project and released
an 11 song CD entitled Soundtools: "Drilled" and Toured
1995 thru 1997. In 1994 Don did a solo studio project and
had radio play on 89X. He continued to complete solo
recordings until 1998 and then dropped out of the music scene until
joining “Salty Snack”. Don's musical influences include:
Eddie Van Halen, Richie Blackmore, ELO, Jimmy Hendrix and multiple
hair band guitarists.
Keith: Percussion
Keith
began his career as the guitarist for the early grunge style band
"Creative Decadence" in 1984. He continued to play guitar in several local bands until 1989,
when he hung up his guitar for drums. After playing in several
blues bands, Keith went on a ten-year hiatus to focus on other
interests outside of music - returning in 2000 as the drummer
for “Ice Cold Katy". After playing drums on
the soundtracks for the Independent films "Born Cool" and
"The Haunted Heart" (A film he also produced
www.bigmathfilms.com) in late 2002 Keith left “Ice Cold Katy” to
join “Salty Snack”. Keith's musical influences
include: The Cult, Bob Seger, The Ramones, Stevie Ray Vaughn,
The Rolling Stones and several others.
